Kalihani Pass Trek

Manali - Loma dugh - Khenpri tibba - Kangra

Max. Altitute : Kaliha ni (4850m)
Gradient : In the beginning its about four hours trek up to Lamadugh and one gets acclimatized easily generally mild hard trek over Dhauladhar Range.. Difficulties are not there, of course ups and downs.
Grading : A reasonable degree of physical fitness is needed for this Himalayan trek and one day acclimatization at Manali is recommended.
Special Interest: Excellent view for photographers, ideal place for nature lovers and best spot for adventure lovers.

The area of Kullu Manali
The hauntingly beautiful Kullu district lies in Himachal Pradesh, a tiny hill state in the North of India between north longitude 32-26 and, and east longitude 76-59.To its west lies the Bara Bhangal range of mountains, and to the south west are the peaks are Dhauladhar, separating it from Kangra district. Kullu Manali is the source of river Beas and its tributaries, the Parvati and the Sainj. On the north east and east lay the Central Himalayan Range and beyond them are the border of Lahaul and Spiti.

The magical region comprises a total area of 1924sq miles, an eighty-mile stretch of varying width, running north to south along the western side of the great snow range known as the Mid Himalaya.

TREK:
This is one of the most enchanting and picturesque treks leading from right up to the Manali suburb (Kullu valley) into the scenic Kangra valley. Magnificent Himalayan vista opens up as the trail traverses myriad streams, evergreen forests and lush green meadows strewn with amazing variety o wild alpine flowers. The fauna spotted from the Himalayan Brown bear, to the elusive Musk Deer. This area is rich in birds includes: Nervous Snow Cock and the Monal Pheasant. Each day presents different and startlingly beautiful landscapes all lavishly decorated. A trek that leaves one wondering at the awesome beauty of the Himalayas.

Day: 01 MAANALI (2050M) / LOMADUGH (3380m.) 4/5hrs.
The first day of the trek leads through cool forests of giant Deodar (Cedar), Alder and Oak. The trail ascends gently at first, through the Manalsu valley along Manalsu stream. Extensive views of the Kullu valley appear and slowly fade into the distant as the first campsite in the lush green meadows of Lamadugh is reached. Beautiful views of the surrounding peaks dominate the scene. . As one gains height in this steep climb the distinct views of different face of Indrasan, Deo Tibba and peaks of Bara shigri glacier open up. At the last lag the path turns to the right and one traverse the ridge horizontally and enters into an alpine plateau studded with thick growth of alpine flowers. The campsite ideally located.

Day: 02 LOMADUGH / DOHRA NALA (11200ft.) 7hrs.
Now the trail ascends steeply through woodland and meadows with wild alpine flowers strewn all around. On the way brilliant shrubs of rhododendron and birch pave the way to the ridge after which a descent leads to the campsite at Dohra Nala.

Day: 03 DOHRA NALA / EXPLORATION TO WORDS MANALI PASS.

Day: 04 DOHRA NALA / KALIYANI BASE (13200ft.) 6hrs.
A lovely walk through lush forests leads to campsite at the base of 15,500ft high Kaliheyani Pass. All around are mountain peaks of Kullu and Lahaul valleys, presents and unforgettable panorama.

Day: 05 KALIYANI BASE / KALIYANI PASS / KALI YANI BASE (11500ft.) 7hrs.
Today the landscape slowly begins to change, as forests and steep climb through glacier and moraine till the pass.

Day 06: KALI YANI BASE / RANI SUI LAKE (4000M) 2/4 hrs.
Good views of indrasan(6221m), Deo Tibba(6001m), Hannuman Tibba(5928m).You will be camping n the high pastures and will have 360 d view of the Himalayan ranges.In the afternoon visit holy Lake Rani sui.

Day 07: RANI SUI LAKE / SANCHAR VILLAGE 4/6 HRS.
Walking on the vast pastures with a great view all around.
Steep descend down to the village through the pine forest and experience the Himalayan village lifestyle and culture.
