Khirganga Trek

Kasol - Manikaran - Barshaini - Pulga - Khirganga

LOCATION : Manikaran, Kullu District. 45 KM from Kullu  Himachal Pradesh.
DURATION : 03 days (Mcleod Ganj - Mcleod Ganj)

OVERVIEW :

Manikaran  (1700m)  located on the right bank of the River Parvati, is famous for hot water springs and also has a Gurdwara revered by the Sikhs. Guru Nanak Dev Ji. the first Guru of the Sikhs had also visited this place.People believed that Shiva and Parvati spent eleven years at Manikaran.The adventurous can start the walk from Manikaran itself on the old forest path.Enroute, Uchich village, 4 KM from Manikaran, was once famous for silver mines, which were near the road that runs along the river.This region was known as Rupi Valley because of these Mines.Pulga (2290m) thickly populated village has a few shops/dhabas and an old forest rest house.From the rest house at Pulga the trek heads east through a thick forest of pine, deodar and rei.It is an easy climb to Khirganga on the left bank of Parvati river.

Itinerary :

DAY 01 :  Arrive Kasol 
Morning arrival Bhuntar by O/N Volvo Bus and take share Jeep to Kasol total distance 45 KM from Bhuntar.After check in Hotel walk around Kasol and Manikaran Gurudwara for acclimatization.O/N Kasol.

DAY 02 : Kasol– Barshaini - Pulga - Khirganga (2960m) 32 kms Drive and Trek/ 12 kms-
After breakfast we drive ealy to Barshaini and the trek to Kheerganga through Pulga Village.Total distance 12 kms duration 7 to 8 Hrs.O/N Camp at Kheerganga.

DAY 03 : Khirganga to Barshaini and Kasol
After Breakfast  we follow the same route back to Barshaini by Trek and afternoon drive back to Kasol. TREK END.

Transport Options (Delhi – Bhuntar – Delhi)

For travel to Bhuntar and back one can choose between Air & road. For air travel, the closest airport is the Bhunta KUU, also known as Kullu Airport, or Kullu Airport and is well connected to Delhi and other parts of the country by Air India.

There are frequent Public Transport buses including Volvos available from Delhi to Bhuntar that cost about Rs. 1000 - 1500 per person. These buses depart from Majnu ka tilla every 30 mins. or so and take about 12 hrs to cover the distance. The same is also applicable on the return journey. A private vehicle could also be arranged for if you require the same.

Weather Details

Summer in Kasol extends from March to June when the temperature variation is recorded to be ranging between 23°c and 27°c. Mercury sometimes reaches up to 38°c but never goes beyond that. During winters the temperature can drop to -1° and the maximum temperature hardly goes up to 20°c.
